between the Chinese species and our native plants. In an
effort to promote conservation propagation and exchange,
this summer I was to have the pleasure of hosting the
curator of the Guangxi Botanical Gardens, Wu Zhongfa from
Nanning, China. Visa issues prevented his visit for the
second year in a row. I hope that we will have another
opportunity next year, our third try, to host Wu Zhongfa
and begin sharing and studying growing techniques in
order to produce quality medicinal plants free of
chemicals and pesticides. Most important in our studies
is to understand the relationship between growing the
plant and maintaining the quality of the medicine it
produces. It's been an adventure to
discover all of you out there in the plant world who are
interested in growing and learning about Chinese
medicinal plants. I am pleased to be able to continue to
offer new varieties of Chinese native plants as well as
tropical varieties from South America to Africa, which
are also used in medicine. This year I am offering
Shitake mushroom and Reishi mushroom growing kits.
They're fun to grow and make great gifts. The plants are growing
beautifully in the gardens this year and I am working on
pictures of the plants so that you can see them too.
Patience is defiantly a virtue when working with nature
and now computers. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Plant It Herbs is a
